22/09/2011: Expand your network on the water!

After last year’s success, the HBN once again organised a network event on the water for this year on board the traditional Clipper ‘Twee Gebroeders’. During a voyage over the Markermeer, there was a plenty of opportunities to network in an informal environment with other entrepreneurs that are doing business in and with Hungary.

Although Autumn began the day before, the ‘Twee Gebroeders’ took to the Markermeer at half past six in the bright evening sunlight. On board were thirty enthusiastic HBN benefactors and guests including the Hungarian Ambassador. They were ready for a very pleasant voyage over one of the most beautiful stretches of water in the Netherlands and ready to make new contacts during this wonderful event, to learn about doing business with Hungary and to learn about the current situation with regard to the Hungarian economy.

How things are

Thursday 22 September was the perfect moment for the second edition of the networking event on the water. In Indian summer conditions, the passengers learned everything about how things are with the Hungarian economy. Extra special was the fact that the Hungarian Ambassador Mr H.E. Gyula Sümeghy was the one acting as spokesman. His presence was not coincidental. This was a lovely and worthy way to conclude Hungary’s spell as chairman of the EU.

Action

For those willing and daring enough, there was an opportunity to find out how it must have been to have actually worked on such a clipper. Some of the networkers rolled their sleeves up and helped out with the sailing. After that, it was a time for enjoyment. The enjoyment of a magnificent buffet with hearty meat dishes and vegetarian delicacies. These were of course accompanied by a glass of good Hungarian wine and a glorious sunset.

The clipper sailed into Muiden round about ten o’clock where a rosy crew left the ‘Twee Gebroeders’ satisfied.
